When you use 87, expansion occurs when the piston is farther along in its downstroke and thus there's more room in the cylinder head. This reduces peak cylinder pressure, eliminating knock but also giving you less power and poorer mileage.
Higher octane gas makes ANY engine runner cooler. That why ppl who boost (turbo) cars use meth injection cools down the detonation temp. = more power son!Poor mileage is right I ran one tank of 87 and it didn't last no time I can run the 93/104 mix and it last a good while. that and my engine seems to run a bit cooler.
That would be one heavy arse quad when it had a full tank.mine is 17 gallons...ha!
