What is the maximum headlight wattage I can use on a stock trx250x stator.? I'm installing a dual round 400ex headlight under the front fender ubove/behind brush guard. The bulbs are 35 watt x quantity 2 = 70 watt. Will I damage/burn up stator, if I install these headlights? Thanks ahead of time.

Will you be doing away with the stock light on the handlebars? If so, I would say you would be OK. I don't know about running all 3 lights. Maybe Moose or Billy250X can answer this question. I think they both fly the 250X.

Well the stock light is 12V 60/55 watt I don't see where you would have any issues. as long as your not trying to run all three lights . Then you may run into some issues with the longevity of the Exciter coil/alternator (Stator). To be perfectly honest with you , your not going to see that much better if any with that low of a wattage light X2.... I would look into an offroad H.I.D. kit they produce a high amout of visability with less wattage.

250x light

The stock headlight looked like it went through war and did'nt make it back to well. So temporarilly I installed a Ford Taruas fog light, with a 55watt bulb, which turned out to be pretty bright at night. Then I found the 400ex headlight, which looks pretty cool, but is a Honda part also.I tried it out yesterday, on high beam only - my intensions - and the headlight put off really good light. I'll try to get a pic once finished.I'll only be using the 400ex light on the quad.

250x stator/headlight

I finally finished making mount, and installing the 400ex headlight. I still have to wire it in, but I'm minus the connectors. I also still have to clean the mount and paint. I think it looks pretty cool, and should put out enough light with high beams on all the time.

So

so does the 400ex stator fix in the a 91 250x? I have been looking everywhere for a solution for my problem, the stator went out but just the lighting part of it, wondering what options I have in way of a newer one that possibly puts out a little more power. PS: Sorry for the thread jack/bump your bike looks nice well the lights do wondering about the yellow rear fender though. :rating10:

250x stator

I'm not sure if a 400ex stator will fit in a 250x? Maybe someone else could answer that one. I only installed 400ex headlights, and they work great. As for the 400ex rear yellow fender, I found that fender in new condition for $40, and could'nt pass up. The fender does the job for a budget rebuildable quad purchased for $300, and put in $200-300 worth of work and used parts to bring this quad back to life. It's mine, paid for,and if I wreck it, go get another quad that someone is selling for cheap which has no idea how to fix it. This quad has BALLS,will stand up when you gun it,and jumps pretty well too.Currently looking at a 2001 400ex w/blown motor-If motor is to hard to fix, who knows-part it out.I encourage people to do their own repairs as long as they can safely do the work. You get a strong sense of accomplishment and feeling of joy when you can say I DID ALL THE WORK ON IT.......Yea maybe SANFORD AND SON style, but it rips.

More than likely, they are different, because the 400EX has a battery and the 250X doesn't. I could be wrong about this, though.

250x stator

This site does rock!!!!!!! Also have alot of good people and good advice. Take no affense by my previous write up, when your strapped down with bills, toys come last..... As you can see in my 400ex headlight pics, I have a 66 Mustang car and engine in the background in restoration project. It's due for metal clean up and paint. Maybe I can once again enjoy my first car from way back during 1980's, But now shes got some modifications. For those who are'nt married with kids, and plenty of bills, collect your toys now and hold on to them!!!!!! I'ts tuff to get new parts and toys when your strapped down later in life....Most wives just don't understand!!!!!!!
