I have an 86 trx 200sx I have great compression but it smokes any ideas

Could be a number of things? Air filter carb running too rich, but if I had my guess I would say rings.. You can have good compression and still smoke like a chimney (two Different rings) if you have never been in the engine I would say it's about time for a set.

I had the same problem and put a new piston kit and new gasket seals on. the smoke when away and runs a little faster
