[86trx]

Hi everyone, newbie here.
I have an 86 trx 250 utility, and an 85 atc 250es i got with it for parts.
I need to change the stator and flywheel in my trx, due to some installing the wrong size of starter reduction gears. upon swapping out the needed parts from the atc 250, i noticed the the alternator, and starter gears are a different size? Could anyone shed some light on this? i thought the engines were the same? this site has already help me a lot, but i cant seem to find any info on this. any help with this would be great!

Anyone have any ideas? Surely I cant be the only one that has encountered this lol. can i use the alternator assembly from the 250 big red in my 250 fourtrax without any issues?
