Hey all,

Just was gifted an 85 fourtrax, in great shape...but I noticed this thing just zip tied to the handle bar not connected to anything...mechanic buddy said it's probably vacuum fuel shutoff? Pics attached...

Yep, it is a standard Honda accessory outlet and plug energized through the ignition switch. It was put on a lot of early Honda ATVs. You can take the plug apart and wire up any accessory you want to, provided it doesn't exceed approximately 15 amps of current draw.

?looks like you're missing a couple mounting screws. So first terminology plug and socket. Plug has male and socket is female. there's power going to the socket when your ignition it switched on you'll want to check the source by pulling out the plug.
If you want to wire the plug for air compressor or phone you can run wires to it by gently pulling on one of the terminals with needle nose. The whole plastic terminal bulb will pop loose from the rubber dust cover
