I've been searching craigslist recently for an atv and I came across this ad for a 99 400ex for $800 bucks. I wasn't planning on getting one that I could ride right off the trailer so this seemed like a good deal to me. I texted the owner asking about any issues, that's when he gave me a long list of things. Things that it needs: Battery, tires, tie rods, ball joints, front wheel bearings, rear carrier bearings, front plastic, kill switch, and seat cover. By the looks of the pictures it looks like the wheeler was rolled a few times. Should I see if he'll come down on price or just not buy the wheeler at all because it might be a money pit. I would go check it out atleast. Does it have a title? And i would check 2 things and if it fails walk away. Is the frame bent? And has it thrown a chain and hit the cases of the engine. I would also look over the bolts and stuff on the engine and if you see any jenky work walk away. You dont want to buy someone elses problems. If the topend was done by a shop it should look like nothing has been done. My .02

I don't know much about sport atvs ?, but I can see a bad atv when I see it !..lol. but yes, your right, bent frame ?..walk away, busted cases ?..walk away. as for this so called top end upgrade ?, without seeing it ? ( which we all know ya can't unless ya tear it down ?, and know what they look like ? ), would be a tough call. kinda like, I got some beach front property i'll sell ya in az !..lol. I don't trust anyone..for anything..until I get my hands on it, and go through it ?, until then ?, unless I know this person very well ?, I DON'T TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY !..LOL.
