i have a 650 and lately on my rides my temp light will come on. when this happens the shifting gets rougher. we checked all fluids,oil and water,and the local dealers have no clue with out it currently malfunctioning

bad ground (probably) or short in temp sensor wire is my bet. The temp indicator is a circuit to ground that a certain amount of resistance measured sets off the light. IMO either the wire is touching ground somewhere or the engine or chassis ground is causing excess resistance and that will set it off...........
