Hi folks, I'm new here.
I have a 2000 450TRX that has been boringly reliable.
It's developed an issue I need some advice about.

The cooling fan comes on when the key is turned in, and the electronic speedometer has quit working.
Both happened at the same time.
I figure it's a relay or something, but the dealer says they don't know either and want to go fishing.
Thanks for any ideas you can share.

The oil temp sensor is probably well out of spec or shorted by now. You can check it with an ohms meter or multimeter. Bad oil temp sensors are common. In your case the sensor wire might also have found a ground (bare wire or plug or chewed wire etc.) somewhere. Check your harnesses over good for faults and clean the battery and ground cables up. Routine maintenance in other words, can solve or help identify many problems. You can get a copy of the service manual HERE to use for diagnosis. Its all in there... have fun and welcome to the forums!
