Hello everyone!

I have an issue with my 2008 Honda 400EX. It will not stay on, It had a backfire but I resolved that by replacing the sparkplug, check all the fluid levels and made sure the chock in correct position and the bike will not stay on. I had a ride on the Baja1k trails in April of this year and I did notice the gas was not lasting me nearly as long as the other ATV's on the ride. I dont see a gas leak! Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bajaking

Sounds like it is starving for gas. Did you use some of that quality Mexico gas in your quad? Your petcock could be clogged, do you have a fuel filter on that machine?

Where at in Baja do you go? We do a trip every few years to San Felipe and Mike's Sky Ranch.

Thanks for all the responces, I DID use the mexico gas, had no choice, no chase vehicle. It doesnt have a fuel filter, it has a fuel strainer screen. I will check on the petcock thing.

I ride mostly way South of Coco's Corner, this time around we spent a week out in desert west of LA BAY, rode to Puertecitos, South of San Felipe and then back south to LA BAY and spent a few days exploring the area.

I love that area, All those towns are a lot of fun. As long as you stay out of trouble. We usually stay in San Felipe for a week and do a bunch of day rides. Down to Puertocitos(sp) is a fun ride on the beach...

Just locked at the diagram of the petcock and the fuel strainer is right there with it, that's gotta be it. Now time to take the sucker appart! Make sense on why the gas ran out so much faster than the other ATV's

I would add about a half of a can of seafoam in the tank then fill it up after you get the strainer/petcock cleaned, just to flush out the carb.
