Hey guys I just bought my first atv (99 400ex). The idle is a little rough and when I give it throttle it falls completly on it's face at about 1/4 throttle, then it puffs out a little black smoke. It has a Lexx pipe and I was told that the carb was jetted to match the pipe. The motor has a fresh rebuild with around 10hrs of use. It was built by a Honda shop so I have decent cofidence in it. What gives? To me it sounds like it's fludding. The plug is new. Any help would be appriciated

Has it been sitting for any amount of time. It defintely sounds like jetting. Maybe something is clogged.

I agree with Red. The jetting is off or the carb needs cleaned.

The guy I bought it from gave me the whole "Humm it never did that before". I can't say for sure if it has sat or not. It's strange throttles to 1/4 just fine then blahh.
