Yap, looks like an old race is still in there.

Check my pic below, it should look like that.

Before you put the new bearing in, put it in the freezer for an hour or so beforehand, clean up the area good with wire wheel or something, and put heat to the hole with a torch.

Should slide right in, or at least go in with minimal effort.

I got the old race out, there is a part that stays in the race right?
The part of the frame that your steering stem goes into is just a shouldered hole in the frame.

Nothing should be in there when you install the new bearing.

You may have gotten the inner race of the old bearing out, but it looks like the outer race is still in there.

If you did get the old bearing completely out, just make sure to really clean the area good, and do the freezer trick with the new bearing.

It can make a world of difference.

So that piece comes out? Cause I beat on it and beat on it nothing and also if that piece wasn't there the bottom dust cover wouldn't fit under there. Also I think I have to do a little grinding or something cause the new bearingnwill not go in

Can you post more up close pictures?

I want to make sure you're not beating on the frame lol
