I have removed the parking brake on my 2001 400EX and I like the cleaner look. Is there anyone that makes a new clutch perch that still uses the safety electronics? If not an I buy a new aftermarket clutch perch without the parking brake, what does everyone do with the wires that connect to the stock perch?

cut them you dont need them or tape them back i also removed my parking brake here is a great clutch perch *NEW HONDA TRX400EX TRX 400EX AOF CLUTCH LEVER & PERCH* | eBay

also make sure you buy a blockoff plate for the caliper

I already purchased and installed a Lonestar block-off plate and removed the brake cable. That is the exact same clutch perch I was planng on buying. So there are no concerns I should have about removing the electical safety wires?

nope no concerns at all btw i have that clutch perch and i love it ,its great quality

What is the main reason for removing parking brake? Is it just to "clean up" the handlebars?

I understand that... but still don't really see a "need" for removing it. It is not a significant amount of weight. Just wondering if I am missing something.

I usually only remove them if they seize up and quit working.

Mos of them seize up and wear out the rear pads very fast.So most people remove them before that happens.

Yea the parking brake never really works well with me. never has. putting it in gear works much better.

That makes sense. I figured that was more to it than just looks. Is it required to get a new clutch handle to do it?

Well as I was putting on new rear brake pads I went ahead and removed the Parking brake and cable. I ordered the following block off plate and clutch lever.

So if you don't need the wires.... what was there original purpose?

no you don't and if you want to be able to start is in gear take those 2 wire and solder them together
