Nerfs are about saving your leg... not convenience !
so your leg doesn't get sucked into the wheels when you jummmp?
not if you have nerfs on they also save your feet and ankle when trail riding, you will actually deflect off a tree if you get too close. Most nerfs have heel guards to prevent you foot from falling between the bars and rear tire.

I have never had nerf bars on any of my quads. I hate them.... Wouldnt even consider them on my 02 4ooex for many reasons. The only time I would want them is if I was hitting huge jumps over and over again. Just need to learn to be a sticky rider and keep the boots on the pegs. Its not hard. If ya dont keep falling off why have them?? When riding i dont get off my ex unless iam stuck. lol Put you're foot down and push backwards its fine...

No clowning here. Just want to say this is just my oppinon and may not work for everyone.....
A long time ago I used to ride dirtbikes. Then I switched to three wheelers. Needless to say after the switch I ran over my legs many times:icon_ goofy:. I learned my feet have to say on the pegs.
I have never had nerfs on any of my atv/atc. But many of my riding buddys have them. Here are some of the cons. I have seen over the years. Webbing fail and leg getting run over while you are stuck in the frame of the nerfs. Large branches getting hung up in the webbing. They seem to act as stops in deep mud. Seen them get half riped off on stumps and cause the atv to come to a dead stop. Seen them fail as far as the frame bend ( cheap ones ). Thats what I have seen over the years.
Personally I ride a lot of tight trails/single track and 4x4 trails. So for me I like to have a clear view of the trail under me. Plus I dont like the way they look. Iam not out in the dunes or on the track. Iam just a trail and pitt rider with no need for them.
If you like them and they help you thats just fine by me.
