i have a 400ex and i was riding today and i shut it off to take a break and went to start it and all electrical is dead, no juice at all. it did this probly 3-4 months ago and i just put a new battery in it and it worked fine. im thinking maybe voltage regulator overcharging it?

You might just have a bad connection somewhere. I would test the battery to see if it's fully charged. If it is, look for a bad connection.

well the battery went from fully charged to not even 1 volt in no time and it isnt the first time it did it
Does the battery discharge when just sitting? If so, then you've got a short to ground. If the battery only discharges when running the ATV, then the ATV isn't charging. Could be the voltage regulator or stator, but I would look over all the wiring and make sure all the connections and plugs are clean and tight and not corroded, first.

i got down to it and figured out the battery was good and it was blowing the fuse. when i put a fuse in it i could start it all day but when i hit the headlights it blew. i checks all wires and cant find any thing bad

you have a wire or a headlight grounded over loads the fuse take the bulb out or disconnect it and try another fuse if it blows again check the switch (after you put the bulb back in) if not there you will need to follow the wire backwards to the problem
