i just bought a 2003 400ex and today i notice a fairly loud clicking noise at idle and when diriving it still clicks but not as loud? please help!

from a dealer ?..under warranty ???..used ??..if from a dealer..take it back..and tell them the valves need adjusting !..if used..your on your own..you need to adjust the valves.

timing chain maybe. hard to believe the valves would be that loose but anything is possible. Exactly how loud is the clicking??

uh its from cyclehouse in newjersey lakewood and theres 30day warrenty on it its an 03 its used obviously

Alot of the 400ex will make a ticking noise. But get them to adjust the valves.

yeah well my brother wrecked during the week and didnt tell anyone after they fixed it and i rode it today and i heard the clicking a bit but it went away and then i got back home ate.ect...went to start it up and a horribly LOUD crack! and it wont start now so idk if the piston or something cracked in half or what but there picking it up tomorrow morning for a engine rebuild and its gonna be done in time for next weekend so im kinda happy....(0 parts were replaced since 2004 so its gonna have all new parts now so thats better........
