OK have a loose right side front wheel bearing, and also a upper A arm ball joint that seen better days,
went to loom at the OEM parts diagram, and they don't sell a separate ball joint, only a complete upper a arm that is 200 and some bucks??

I know you can get just a ball joint , does anyone know what the part number is for it>??
or an aftermarket BRAND that fits that is not china junk but maybe not OEM??

would this be one? are the upper and lowers the same< ??
I think so,never had to replace one on this atv before, so< rather ask and see before ordering!

The ball joints have a circlip retaining them in the a-arm, correct? Measure the diameter of the joint body at the top of the bore with calipers and post that figure here. We can probably find an OEM match on a 450 Foreman, 350 Rancher, 300FW, etc.

If you look at the ebay part (your link) the description fine print shows OEM parts numbers that it replaces.
I checked those parts numbers at Partzilla and they have it in stock BUT on their "Related Fitment" it does not show a 1999 Foreman 400. BUT, Partzilla says their list is not complete.
Here are the OEM parts numbers:
51355-HM5-A81, 51355-HP5-601, 94514-32000, 94201-30180, 90310-HB9

If I were you I would call Partzilla and ask them which one will fit your Foreman. The price was about $15.00 each plus shipping.

You need to keep that Foreman in tip top shape in case you need to get away from all those bears! :)

thanks guys, and yes it has a retainer clip, as I removed that and the ball joint before I went looking for a replacement LOL
figured it would be a easy deal to just order a new OEM, but was surprised when I seen that they didn;t have them ??
I Placed an order with partzilla, new wheel bearing, tie rod end and ball joint,
so parts are on the way!

as for needing my atv to out run a bear LOL
Honestly, the bears are faster than my atv , so wouldn;t be any help to be honest!, they can go from zero to 35 ina few feet!, cannot say that about my old foreman!
its runs great, heck like new yet, but it was never a fast get up and go type machine, slow and steady is how she runs , just the way I like it LOL

RETRO< maybe its a age thing, as I know many of the older machines there not carrying parts for them, even if there the same part used in newer machines? just a way to faze them out and get folks to buy more NEW things

and
GirlsRideToo, I can assure you, a bear can get up and go REAL fast when they want to, I would go as far as to say they have reflexes as fast as any Cat, there amazingly QUICK with there movement when they want to be.

and you'd be surprises how HIGH they can jump on a run, a few days ago, I had a mother bear here with her cubs, and a young male wanted to have a look for some bird seeds, well, she didn;t like him here at the same time, and she took off after him to chase him away!
I watched her(300+ lbs female here too) on a dead run hurtle and jump up over a branch on a tree that was 5 ft off the ground and she cleared it like it wasn't there!
its pretty amazing to see such a big animal run and jump like that!, small tree don't stand a chance either they plow over them like they ain;t there when there motivated on a run like that too!

I know I wouldn;t even waste my time trying to outrun one if it ever happened, for 2 reasons, 90% of charges are BLUFF"S, and second, well, I don't run fast at all and know it LOL rather save my energy for a fight if needed, not that it would help much,m but least I wouldn;t be tired from running! Hahaha

If you watch that bear move down that hill up and up that tree, you pretty much give up any hope you might have ever had at outrunning a bear if you ever have to.
HAHA< that's some decent footage of just how fast they can climb a tree and STAY up in a tree, there like over sized squirrels, and it has always amazed me how some of them small branches will support them, seen them hang upside down off branches maybe 2 inch in Dia. and them walk out on them like on a tight rope, get 6-7 ft out from tree trunk,
its crazy!

that video however, IMO< show's what I call Hormone off balance issue's with females with cubs, they can go from zero to a 100 real fast, even when there isn;t any real need to do so!

She was rubbing her back on the tree scent marking the tree's as HER area!
and that bear up the tree, could have been a female, just as easy as a male, , as female's with cubs can go off on either, even other females with cubs,
one minute they can be fine and next all in a rage!
I says its due to hormones from giving birth and such!, but??

however what ever sex it was, it wasn't that big a bear, and she knew it,
Also, as I said, MOST all charges are BLUFF charges, they will come on strong and fast, but will stop a few feet away(IF YOU got the balls to stand your ground)

as even she knew fighting up a tree is NOT a safe thing to do, pissed off or not!, that other bear has the same weapons she has!
its all about making a showing, than actually fighting!

too bad they didn;t film the cubs, as I bet it was WAY up a tree almost at the very tippy top some where up the hill, waiting for mom to call it down!
they will climb to the top of a tree, NO fear of falling, or getting ejected, as many times I have seen females with cubs send cubs up a tree, them go up same tree when another bear shows up, and then while up the tree will start shaking the tree and making a fuss, clicking teeth and snorting at other bear trying to scare it away, whole time almost ejecting there own cubs, by violently shaking the tree, poor little bears have death grips on twigs at times LOL

Had a bear here other night chasing a skunk about the yard!, was waiting for a blast to go off, but I think skunk was just running for d ear life, NO time to spray! LOL

even got a slight pic of things at the start!
this is when she decided to take off after it
for what ever reason, I was looking outside and seen the skunk running right at her, then when she turned and started to chase it, it did a 180 and took off for dear life! , she's a pretty big female, and had 2 cubs with her!
skunks are either dumb or fearless maybe? but this one, got away, came back a while later!

Did I step on ya GirlsRideToo? Didn't mean to... I just used all of the info you posted to search a bit. So all credits belong to you! And ya, you're a LOT smarter than I am, or ever t'was! :)
No, of course you didn't. I couldn't miss the chance to make you laugh. :)

Me smarter? Oh, you are such a charmer, Retro. Is your next move to offer to buy me a drink? LMAO!

I need a keeper. You know I only post when I am sure.....well, reasonably sure......well, almost sure my answer is correct. I'm relieved knowing you'll never let me lead anyone astray, my friend. :)

@mrbb, I just love your stories and pics!![/QUOTE]

well thanks
living where I do, and so much wildlife here all the time, I have sure added up some stories with critters
today so far I LIVE trapped and relocated 8 grey squirrels and about 8 chipmunks,
they were just getting to be too many here, lack of predators anymore, has there numbers a climbing.

don't need them things chewing on wires, or trying to get indoors!
Funny how I never seem to have any issue's with larger critters, just the smaller one's!
