So y’all know I’ve been messing with a 350 that my uncle got cheap.
I had to rebuild front end, rear end, do a lot of minor fixes, and last week I put another carb on it (psn) because the original leaked out the overflow.
I adjusted valves last week and apparently did so on the exhaust stroke because it started tapping a lot louder. Got dark so I left it alone.

Adjusted them again this afternoon and the bike sounds great now. Did .006 on both valves.
Starts right up, idles smoothly, and sounds like a sewing machine.
I get on it to take it for a spin and it won’t rev out. It’s like it stops revving at 1/2 throttle. I pulled back to the house thinking the throttle cable might be binding up but the cable is pulling the butterfly all the way open, the bike just doesn’t have any power.
Valves too tight cause this? This thing had been ridden hard and put up wet but it had plenty of power last week, just noisy valves.
Trying to figuyout what it could be before I dig back into it.

Shade, got your message this AM. I go to bed EARLY LOL.

The slide was sticky on this carb when I got it from PSN, so I'll take the top off the carb and put the slide in from the old carb. At least that way I don't have to start taking bits off again.

Hopefully that's what it is.

I'll report back after work. Been running around Christmas shopping this morning.

Walmart is closing out a lot of rifles/shotguns. Ruger 10/22's are $124 at some stores. Takedown models are $169. Weatherby Vanguards are $250/ synthetic and $350 with hi gloss walnut. Ruger Mini 14's are $399. Quite a few Savage guns marked down as well.

Leatherman waves are 1/2 price at $45.

Good deals out there. I got a lot of Christmas shopping done this morning after a little driving.

Yeah I cleaned it! It was sticky when I got it, then I cleaned it and it wasn't sticky any more! LOL

But, that being said, I couldn't see anything wrong with the slide, but for craps and giggles I took the slide out of the old carb with the leaky float and put it in, and the thing fired up and ran like a top, so it was the slide.

Still can't see anything wrong with the old one, but at least it's fixed.

Thanks for the help guys!

Just for future reference concerning tight valves. Usually tight valves on these low performance Hondas, run good until hot. Then the the valve lash gets hot and opens the valve so it acts like a rev limiter. You can slow down for a moment and it will run good again for a moment, then the rev limiter feel comes back. About 20 years ago I bought a 1986 or 87 XR 250 L. It ran like a new bike until I took it out on the open road for a few miles. Tight exhaust valves if I remember correctly.
