my son has a '03 honda rancher 350,it's a 4 wheel drive, and he is wanting a disconnect to make it so that he can switch it from 2x4 to 4x4.he was wanting to know if its worth it and how well it does.
thnx!
They work good and in my opinion they are worth it, but they discontinued the Warn 4-2-4 Select and they are hard to find. As far as I know, nobody else makes them. Sometimes you can find them on Ebay.
Yes..if you can find a Warn 424! The Rancher becomes a better steering and play machine in 2wd. I had an 05 Rancher manual and that was the first mod I made...installed a Warn 424. Then I installed a front disc brake conversion and traded it towards the 07 Rubicon I have now.
The dealer sold that Rancher 3 days later.
I love my 08 rancher "foot shifter" for that very reason. I can shift the side lever on the fly in and out of 4WD. You notice a huge change in stearing ease and rear wheel power to power slide in loose stuff and fell a better ride down the trail. with my new 27" 589s I hardly need the front wheel drive.
