IM having a problem with the front of my rancher 350. I just replaced rebuilt the front end, new bearings and seals in the diff, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, superatv front disk conversion and installed new axles. Everything is great if you want to go straight but as soon as you turn it will almost yank the handle bars out of your hands to go back straight. So i got all 4 wheels off the ground on the jack, put it in gear and started running it then turning, the front axles are binding and making all kinds of noise and yanking the bars back and forth. These are brand new axles from ebay. they are MAX motorsports sold by VOSTORE. I know i will never buy from them again but thats another issue. I can not warranty them or return them because of this issue and im out the $140 i spent on them. I just want to get a good set of axles for it that will work. Any insight? I do not have my original axles to rebuild other wise I would do that.
Heres the junk axles I bought, even tho i paid alot more for them couple months ago.

Ok i was looking at the parts diagram and it lists a different part number per side on the rancher, 42350-hn5-671 is the left and 42250-hn5-671 is the right. I wonder what the difference is between the two and if this is my problem.

only info i can tell you is, this is why i buy anything oem when it comes to front drive axles. just because ebay sellers '' claim '' they are built to oem spec's ?..haha..they are full of it, and I've proved to them in the past. all they do is sell china after market china crap. your best bet ?, buy oem from Honda. partzilla.com is one of the cheapest oem Honda parts company. i like using rocky mountain atv, they price match partzilla, and they ship fast !.

I checked the axles on my '00 Rancher ES today and they are both identical in every way except for the direction the band clamps (to minimize chances of snags that might open the clamp while rotating) are installed. The bands are the only way I can tell which side each axle belongs on, so I have no idea why they'd charge more for one axle over the other, except greed.

if you look closely, the inner cup i think it is ?, has the part numbers stamped on them. i know one of them has it stamped on it.

the one im working on is an 2001. I didnt think there was any difference in the axles at all but thought id ask. Im just unsure on what axles to get that are cheaper than oem. I would do a set of used if they are in good shape at this point. I just dont understand whats going on. it really acts like the diff just locks solid when turning but on the jack i can hold one front wheel while the other will rotate.

i might have some axles for you, i know where a trx350 4x4 rancher is, its a parts bike now, and pretty sure it has the front axles on it, what i do not know is what shape they are in ?. not mine, but i can get you in contact with the owner, i know him well, don't know what price he wants for them, most times, he ask for half of what new cost.

You could swap your aftermarket axles into your '03 Rancher right now for a test. They interchange, same part numbers, and I'm guessing there might be nothing wrong with them.

I suspect that you got your cam follower pairs out of order in the diff (or shimmed the face cams wrong) by reading what you said in your last post? See the attachments:

Edit: The slip torque should be 9-13 ft. lbs.

Yeah check that for sure.

I'm pretty sure 400AT rancher axles are the same too. At $25 per they're good to have as spares anyway. Can't put new boots on a CV that cheap.

I originally suspected this also, that i might have assembled the differential wrong. but when i put all 4 wheels off the ground and run it while turning it does the same thing. This is the reason I thought the axles might be what is causing the problem.

Thanks for the diagram.
I swapped the front diff from my 03 into my 01, and it worked perfect. So I finally pulled the 01 diff apart and figured out thats where i went wrong. I insalled the followers ABABABA... instead of AABBAABBAA... so when i get the motor built for the 03 i should be able to test it and make sure. But im glad my 01 is finally able to be used.
