Hi guys! I have a 300ex that has no spark. I replaced the cdi box. The only time I can get spark is if the kill switch is in the off position either way you slide it. Very confused! Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
This one gets me! We had something close to what your describing come t the shop , guy had a trx350, (in for servicing) and had the cooling fan wired t the kill switch, fan would run in the stop position (both sides) and stop on the on position......., let me ask this, does it run as expected in the off position ? If so I'd say some wire hacking happened....
It doesn't run at all. I bought the bike and the head gasket was blown. Installed new head gasket and tried to fire it up and nothing. Checked a couple things and had moved to kill switch to off and it tried to fire but then stopped. I get only a couple good Sparks out of it and then it stops sparkling. It has no spark in the run position.
You can try to spray some penetrating oil into the switch, then work it back and forth and see if that makes the kill switch work right. Check the plug where it connects to the main harness too. If all that fails you might have to replace the kill switch. You can find a copy of the factory service manual HERE.
It seems like the switch is working when i ohm it out. I just don't understand the reason it doesn't spark in the run position. Does anyone know the proper way to check the stator?
Someone may have swapped the original kill switch. Get a copy of the FSM I linked above, everything you need to know is in there. You'll need a decent multimeter is all.
