Alright i finally got my jetting correct and everythings good there but now the valves are tapping more than i ever remember them doing before. I thinks its cuz i ran it way lean for just a little bit but refresh my memory what are the specs for adjusting the valves?

.004 Is what the 250X are and the 300EX is basically the same, pull the timing plug out rais and support the rearend I usually put mine in 3rd or 4th so I can bump the wheels around by grabbing one and turning it line up the line above the "T" and start adjusting. good luck. oh and when you get it to the "T" you may have to hold the tire in place you can try to get it to neutral without it moving but not likely. an extra set of hands will be a good thing.

K Thanks bro. Do u kno if running it lean for a little while could cause my valves to go out of adjustment all of the sudden or could i have another problem internally? Cuz i just had them adjusted professionally and they were only good for a little while?

running lean will actually burn a piston I'm not sure on the valves I would think it would have a little bearing on their performance.? I dont' think you messed anything up just re-adjust them and try it for a littlewhille

Yeah, and make sure you tighten the lock nuts down good. When you had them adjusted, they may not have tightened them good.

Could be a worn bearing then or a worn cam or rockers.

Yeah, something is worn. Like Billy said, probably cam and rockers.

first off...never adjust the valves when your motor is warm or hot..only adjust it when it's cold...any honda repair manual will tell you to adjust them when your machine is cold. :)

Agree^^^^^ 250s and 300 Tick that's ll there is to it I have adjusted and readjusted and mine still tick it's not really the up and down motion but you can wiggle them side to side some i think that is what you are hearing. my cam rockers and springs are fairly new less than 20 hours and i can't get the tick to completely go away.

Well the weird thing is while i was screwing with the jstting we adjusted them like 5 or 6 different occasions and one of the times they were the queitest i have ever had them. And i was so pumped then i road it around for a while and it got worse and worse.

then your rockers are worn..or your cam lobes are worn.. or all the above..and maybe even your timming chain you could be hearing...i'd start with the cam and rockers first..before you tear into it to replace the timming chain :)

I think i would lean more towards the timing chain guide and the timing chain tensioner being worn
