Hi everyone! New guy here & glad I found these forums!

02 300ex
Picked up for good price. Put new piston and rings in slapped it all back together did a little riding…… then I realized after looking at a spare 300ex motor I had theres two timing chain guides…. One on tensioner side and one on exhaust side… Well the one On the quad had only one!

Looked at the spare little further & it seems the one on the exhaust side bolts on somewhere around or under clutch basket.. but I’ve also read online it just slides into a slot under the head?

Couple bolts broke off on clutch side so I’m hoping I don’t have to split cases… if so.. I know these are bulletproof.. but would it be ok to ride with only the guide the tensioner pushes up against?

thanks in advanced everyone!!
