Im looking at getting and aftermarket oil cooler for my 300ex. And i have a couple questions about them. First wouldnt putting this on make it take longer for the oil to travel up to the top end? Im looking at the one that dumps the oil in ontop of the rockers btw. Does anyone have this or recommend it? Thanks

It won't take any longer for the oil to get to the top end, because once the oil pump starts pumping, the lines and cooler will be full of oil. It will be a continuous recirculation just like it is without the cooler. You will just have a bigger oil capacity and cooler oil.

Somehow, when I was replying to that question, I knew that wasn't what you meant, because I knew that you already new what I was saying. LOL.

I wonder if there's not some kind of check valve somewhere in the system to keep the oil from draining back out of the lines into the crankcase when the engine is shut off. If there's not, there should be.

I dunno it dosnt really say much about it. Im getting it from GDH racing on ebay. And i mean it seems pretty basic but i just dont wanna have a longer run my oil has to take to get to the top end. As it is i hate listening to my cam and rockers tap for a little bit until the oil gets there. I guess i really gotta hope that the reservoir under the cam stays full of oil all the time. Im probably over analyzing this whole situation. Anyone else would probably just expect that they knew what they were doing when the designed it. Who knows? But thanks helmut. hopefully someone on here has one.

just wondering if anyone has ever added an oil cooler to a fourtrax 300? or is it even worth it to add one?
I've owned several Fourtrax 300's and I've never really needed one I don't think. They never really seemed to run hot, even while pulling something. I don't guess it would hurt, but I don't really think they need one.
