im wanting to get an upgrade for my front shocks on my 300ex..

im not sure if i should get works shocks, fox, or elkas..

fox are supported by air and air doesnt take heat as well as oiled so im unsure about them.. also has no resivoir so they dont dissipate heat as well..

elkas i heard that the internals are junk.. but i can get resivoirs

and works i heard arent really much of a change from stock, but i can get remote resivoirs.

as far as prices go..
works cheapest for 400-$500 along with elkas
then fox are like $700

any imput is helpful, thanks

-fyi- i broke my stock one and my buddy broke one of his when he had a 300 so im not getting the stock ones.

The fox floats do not suffer from heat over long rides. I run the non-ressie floats, Each race I run is 100+ miles. They are absolutely amazing. Even on the hardest landings the have a bottomless feel.

maybe... but id want the front end shorter than 48" wide and with 400ex a arms id need longer brake lines and tie rod ends right?.. i wonder how much that would be?

I have heard of the diamond j's widening kit but how wide would it make the total
i could put one of those on and then put the 450r shocks on, with that i dont think id need to change anything like brakelines and such..

or go with the stock width and have new aftermarket shocks.

If you go to Diamon j Custom's web site they tell you on there I think that the tie bars and brake lines can be retained with their kits. but I would call to verify that.

according to diamond j custom's store on ebay:
"Brake lines are typically long enough for the conversion if the intermediate support on the a-arms is disconnected to provide more slack in the lines."

4.5"-6.0" additonal widening i think its 43.5 stock (which is what i have now)
and the 4.5s would make it 48" on the dot.

what width are you getting TRX2Five0?

the 4.5 to 6.0 I think is what I was looking at I don't really want to go too wide because i ride alot of trails near my home and some are narrow.
