250 and 350 rear ends can be mod'ed to fit a 300 and the rear brake drum is against the wheel as required by the conversion kits , but the diameter of the axle spline of the 250/350 doesn't match up to the kit ----but the 250/350 rear end does do a better job of keeping water out of the brake drum , if you ask me !

Not sure how good the image is but here’s a pic of a 350d rear end installed into my 300.

Go with a 350D rear end, and seal up the rear drum to work.

Honestly, unless you're running a 424 I don't see the need for a rear brake on a 300. Put discs on the front, and when you lock the brakes up, it will lock up the final shaft going from front to rear, which will lock up the rears.

On a full time 4x4 or a selectable bike that is in 4wd, when you brake with the front the driveshaft locks up the rear as well.

Yeah I did something similar before I did the brake delete, I’ve now got the drum etc back on for an MOT (I’ll take it off again once it’s passed). Only thing that concerns me this time is I have the 3” swing arm stretch, I have to have a park brake for the MOT but I may end up just routing the cable wherever it will fit/reach.

MOT is ministry of testing. It’s basically a road vehicle test to make sure your car/van/truck etc meets the expected safety standards.
So I have to have front and rear brakes plus a park brake.
An ATV is the same inspection as a car or truck, the only thing you can get away with is idiacators as you can have it tested for ‘daylight use’ only.

there is a site I bought cables from before , don't remember the name , they have hundreds of cables listed for different years , makes and models , tells whats on each end and working length , you scroll thru the cables and find one the same but longer , cool site ---I don't see it book marked

Yeah after that subject was bought up I did have a quick google search and turns out my local bearing and engineer suppliers make cables to order.
Realistically I’ll only ride trails with my dad during the summer, he won’t want to get soaked or cold! So I will put the delete back on after the MOT to ride mud parks etc,
