300 front storage box!

So the latches on this box aren't lining up right. They are off center. I've emailed the company I bought it from and it's been 7 days with no reply. Do I say screw it and drill the rivets out and fix it myself or should I try to send it back for a replacement or refund??
I'd hate to drill I to a new box I just paid over $100 for to fix what should have been correct in the first place. It very hard to latch close and it pulls the metal loop out of wack.

It has straps on the sides, it comes with U-bolts to drill and attach it permanently but i havent done that yet..

First photo shows it latched down . . as it should be.
Later photo shows the mis-match, but the lid isn't seated as it should.
My guess the box isn't sitting level, or the hinge has some sideways movement.
Force the lid over and latch it.

I think Macarena Man is correct, I think there is something goofy in how that box is sitting on your rack. Do you know if your rack is bent at all? That second pic looks like it is all lined up. I would remove it and set it on a table or bench and see how the latches line up then. I bought mine from the Yamaha dealership and they had about 6 different models of rack boxes from Moose, including the one you have and I didn't see any that had misaligned latches. May have to shim the left front corner.

It came out of the box that way it will latch closed but it pulls the metal loops out to the side. I'll post a pick of it when I get home. I really love this box it awesome so I hope they will exchange it for me. If not I'll drill out the rivets and realign the latches

I just talked to Dennis Kirk the company where I bought the box from. they did receive my email and they are working on the warranty. I guess they just haven't responded yet but they did say they're working on it and they'll get back to me today.
