im wondering if anyone can help me with this. its a 1992 fourtrax 300 2x4. it cranks and idles but when you give it gas it revs up but not fully. i put a new carb on it so its not the carb. but if i cover up half of the hole in the breather box that the carbs pulls its air in with, then it revs up and runs fine. so its getting to much air or not enough fuel. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks. also it started doing this after i pressured washed it in durhamtown a couple weeks ago if that might help.

Did you check your intake boot for leaks? Make sure the vent on the gas cap is in the "on" position. Also, you might want to pull the gas hose off the cut off valve on the tank and make sure gas is flowing freely.

not sure if i replied in the right box. is that the rubber thing bolted to the motor that the carb plugs into?
Yes, that's it. The rubber intake boot.

Spray carb cleaner on the boot, while it's idling. If it has a leak the idle speed will change.

That might not be the problem, but that's what I would check next.
