Hey everyone,

Not sure when this issue started but my Rancher takes 6 cranks to start in cold temps. it used to start in maybe 3 or 4 cranks, once its started and warm it starts up in 2 cranks or less. The video I will post with this is a day after I started it to record a video (but forgot to press record LOL). So the video you are seeing is 24 hours after running it at idle for 5 minutes maybe. I am not sure if this is normal or not but it doesnt seem normal. FYI I have replaced the spark plug already, this ATV has about 60 miles on it with about 40 hours. I have changed the oil twice already (after each season).

I tried to get the video to attach here but no matter how much I compress the video it won't upload.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

It's normal for an EFI, carbureted engines start faster.

You have a 2 year atv with 60 miles on it, use good non ethanol gas with fuel stabilizer in it and plug it into a battery tender when your not using it.
ATV's that never get used have more issues than ones that see constant use, current gas goes bad in 2 months and batteries get low from sitting causing slower cranking speeds hence the slower starting IMO.

You don’t ride it enough. Stale fuel creates problems with fuel delivery. Water condensation. Siphon all that old fuel outta there. Fresh premium, Seafoam additive, and get that thing out and ride it for about an hour.

rust! You gotta get an engine and oil hot enough to drive off condensation from your engine and gearboxes.

I have a Honda Foreman that I've found starts much easier if I turn it over once with the starter cord. I do this when the temps are really cold, and I want to give the battery a break. It spreads a little oil on the moving parts and makes a big difference. I use premium, not ethanol gas, and have never had a problem with gas getting stale. One of the first things I do if I have a starting problem is to change the spark plug(s). My Foreman does like fresh, clean plugs. Good luck!

have you been able to figure anything out I am having the same problem.
I have a 2016 Honda rancher 420 and it’s just like yours if it’s been sitting over night it will turn over several times before starting and if it has been running it will fire right up.
