Hi there. My sons 2018 honda recon 250 started blowing white smoke and leaking oil out of the exhaust. Took it to dealer as it wasnt a year old yet and have extended warranty. piston got torn up on one side. Warranty didnt cover anything and dealer wants an arm and a leg of course. I have a good friend who will rebuild top end but i cannot find a kit online for that new of a quad. Anyone point me in the right direction would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

OEM parts are probably the best buy, since most aftermarket parts are made in Taiwan or China. Pick your model:

You'll need to have the bore measured, then supply the new oversize piston to the machinist when the jug gets bored and honed so the piston clearance can be set during the final honing pass.

Welcome to the forums!
Before you go through all of that tho... you should question how/why that piston failed. If the bike was sunk the motor will need to be disassembled completely to clean out the dirt and junk, else those new parts will immediately fail in the same manner. If you have any lingering doubts about the story... it'd be safest to just take it apart.

Yep, you'll have to be a very squeaky wheel before Honda will listen and make things right. So be that squeaky wheel right from the beginning... and don't give up if you know that you are right, keep escalating the case. But if there is anything on the bike that is from the aftermarket or appears neglected, you won't win any arguments with them and don't deserve to.
