I purchased a 2017 Rubicon TRX500FA7 and have approx 120 kms(75miles) I went for a good ride today and on the highway my top speed was 68 kph (42mph) Seems slow compared to what everyone else seems to be getting. What are you other guys getting for speed. Just curious.

I spoke to service at the dealer and he told me to put more miles on it to see if it gets better. I then called my buddy up in Edmonton and he took his in and had the valves adjusted. The clearances were to tight. He said he gained almost 5 mph and said it pulls more stronger than before. I think this could possibly be my issue.

Well I went ahead and checked valve clearance. Was 6k on intake and 8/9k on exhaust which I read is within specs. Warmed up the quad real good and did a compression test knowing that it has a decompression. I have 2 compression tester.s and both showed 80/83 lbs . Kind of low if you asked me. I thought it would or should be closer to 100.

I spoke with a couple guys in my surrounding area and they are running fuel controllers. So I decided that I am going to order a EJK 3.5 from Dobeck just to clean it up a bit richen/remove where it is needed. Don't really need the exhaust changed.

This is the first Honda Rubicon atv that I have purchased. I am going to take the AFR setup from my sled and install it on the Rubicon and just see exactly for myself what the afr's are at from idle right through to WOT. Document it and make a decision whether to purchase EJK,HMF or PC5. I will post results when I get the info.

2017 AFR Results

I did research on the PCV.
Powercommander V (Fuel & Ignition)
Part Number: 16-060
The map they have is from a 14 model. I still am going with the afr and monitor the results.
Finally got time to install AFR on my 2017 Rubicon Deluxe 500

I got time to go for a ride and monitor my afr results.
Here is what I got for numbers.
Cold start 12.8 then warm up got to 13.8 before I started riding.
Driving. Did not matter what gear you are in and cruising afr is 14.67up to 15.88( Lean but would prefer 13.8+/-)
When I gave full throttle (auto) 1st,2nd.3rd,4th afr richened up to 13.1-13.4but got up to 14.5+ quickly. When I got into 5th afr wide open throttle @ 12.8-13.0

Next I am going to put on my EJK and see if it will make any difference. Just want to richen it up a little to have the
engine temps a little cooler. Maybe a little more bottom end power. I am going to set my EJK using my afr gauge and have a good run.
Will post results when done.
PS: I love the ride and handling on this quad. Bottom end torque is fantastic. Pulls strong.
