I bought a new 2017 DCT rubicon last summer. I really like the ATV however I'm starting to wonder about the maintence schedule, sepcifically the oil changes.

The machine has 4 quarts of oil and I beleive it needs to be changed every 100 hours or 500km's. It doesn't even have 1000km's and I've changed it out 2 times now.

That seems over the top unless your riding in a dust bowl or swamping it with water.

I've always been a change the oil at the end of the fall season with my ATV's. All other ATV's I've owned only held 2 quarts as well. I think with this atv if I follow the maintence manager on the display I'll be changing the oil 2 times a year.

I always use ams oil full synthetic oil as well.

I'm wondering if I can get away with just changing the oil filter 2 times a year and the oil itself every fall.

Because it is a Honda, I suspect you can get by changing the oil every 3-5 years, LOL. But seriously, I would follow the scheduled guide and if anything exceed the expectations, i.e., change more frequently. I do not believe anything can be over serviced...

I have a /16 & i am pretty sure its 1000kms. You are getting the #s from the owners manual? Plus i would break it in more before adding full synthetic ... IMO.
Your right its 100hours or 1000km's. To me that's still often if I put on 1500 a year. I bought it July 2017, I changed the oil after the break in around 200-300km's in August 2017. I just changed it again after 1000km's. So about every 8- 9 months 4 quarts of oil.

I have no problem doing maitencne and I use top of the line products for everything (synthetic in my 5 year old ride on mower once a year lol). It just seems excessive on this ATV. I don't know much about the DCT yet, but I Think that's the reason for the frequent changes.

I have used full synthetic since that 200-300k break in period. Dealer said its fine, so I went with it.
