This is my first post...

I bought my first ATV last fall and have had it out 4 times. I swamped it in the creek over the weekend. I am in the process of changing out the oil (3rd oil change so far) and I noticed that the gas looks a little darker than normal. I am guessing that water got in the gas. How do I dump/drain the gas from this model? I cannot find a pet cock, and the only hoses I see coming from the gas tank are on the top of the tank.

Thanks for any help!

It's actually easy to get water in the tank, since honda put the vent hose pretty much below the top of the tires. If you ride water I'd move it up. You will have to remove the tank to get all the water out, and like misterclean said, check the pump and filter as well, which I believe is inside the tank on these.

I've heard a couple of other options from some other folks.

1. Siphon out as much gas as possible and then tip the ATV up on its end for a minute to drain out the rest.

2. Use a can of DRY GAS to get rid of any water that may be in the tank.

What are your opinions?

I would probably do whatever I have to until I got the bike back home... but then I'd take it all apart and fix it right. There are no shortcuts in life that you'll ever survive without enduring the consequences. Common sense...

I wish you the best outcome on this unit, but have seen over and over bikes begin to smoke, etc., soon after numerous oil changes following submerged, because of the grit/sand, etc., getting into all the internals areas. You might consider googling or seeking additional info on addressing the engine. Best of luck
