Then bike is clean, low miles and well maintained and taken care of. First the bike died on my while driving. Then it would not start, it would just turn over. I then charged the battery and it started and drove fine for about a mile, then died and would not start. Changed out the fuel pump relay and then the symptoms changed. It would start but slightly backfire when pressing the throttle and then it would die. Changed out the spark plug and it started to pop, almost like an electrical pop or an internal backfire. Then it got to where it would not even start again. So I then bought a new ignition coil. It starts now and idles fine but giving it gas, it dies.

Battery is original, 6 1/2 years old. could the fuel injection be affected by lower than normal voltages? WOndering if the battery is on its way out an causing havoc with the FI?

Need some help here, this is getting expensive. Thanks in advance!

yes a BAD battery can play havoc on things, and since your battery doesn;'t seem to be holding a charge, I gather it is time to replce it

NEXT question I have is, have you dumped the fuel in the tank and started withe NEW fresh fuel, before you started throwing parts at this atv
ethanol fuel can go bad in a few weeks or LESS, and cause a LOT of the issues your having!
so, replacing parts without making sure fuel is new and good, is some what a waste of money and time here!

you need to start with the basic's first before thinking part/'s failed!
ethanol fuel SUCKS< plain and simple, if atv sits often , its worth a LONG drive to find and buy NON ethanol fuel and TREAT that too,
fuel just doesn;'t last like it used to!
and it sounds like this atv sits often, as 6 yrs old and you say LOW miles and hours, so, that relates to it SITS a lot IMO! increasing the odds this is a fuel issue, as in BAD fuel
the low voltage of battery sure isn;t helping any and maybe the issue too, but, to find out, its about process of elimination,
get in new fuel, and you eliminate it being bad fuel
and I DON"T mean new fuel that's been sitting in a fuel can for weeks or months either> LOL
new as in just from the pump station and again, preferably NON ethanol fuel to boot!

I just rebuilt the carb on my 2002 rancher, because it hesitated pretty bad and sounded like it was trying to stall when I got on the gas too quick. Even after the rebuild, it still hesitated. While my brother and I scratched our heads as to what could be causing it, I shut it off and for some reason that I can't explain, I decided to remove the plug off of the bottom of the muffler. 17 yrs worth of soot cam pouring out of the hole. I tapped on it several times until nothing else came out, then reinstalled to plug. I started it up and the throttle is VERY responsive now. No more hesitation or trying to stall. Worth a try.

Is the fuel pump running when you turn it on? Sounds like a pump or feed problem...
