I've got a 2013 Honda Foreman 500 that a mouse decided to take up residence in behind the battery. In doing so it chewed the wires on the sub-harness for the fuel pump relay. After I evicted the mouse (Who's no longer with us. R.I.P.) the atv would crank and run fine but the fuel pump would not shut off. In the past when you turned the ignition key on without cranking it, the fuel pump would hum and there would be a click and it would shut off. Now it just continues to run. I've replaced the sub-harness that was chewed and also the fuel pump relay but neither has helped. All of the other wiring looks good and all the fuses have been checked. Any ideas on what else to check or what might be going on? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for replying. No both parts are from the local Honda dealership. Both in Honda packaging with Honda part numbers. It does exactly the same thing with both the original sub-harness and relay as it does with the new parts. This is a very gently used machine that I bought new for hunting purposes. Never abused (I'm 50 years old). It runs fine like it always has other than the fuel pump not shutting off when it reaches pressure. I've parked it right now and have been using my wife's Recon (turkey season) until I can get this sorted out. I just don't want to have to take it to the dealer if it's something simple. I welcome any ideas. Thanks.

try it with out the fuel cut-off relay plugged in. only way the fuel pump will keep running is if the fuel pump relay is not kicking off and on like it should. only other thing that comes to mind is if your model has a bank angle sensor ?. if it does ?, then its posb this part is bad.

I just went out and tried it without the relay and the fuel pump didn't come on at all. I can hear a very faint click coming from the relay when I turn the ignition switch on. I noticed what I'm assuming is the bank angle sensor on top of the carb, it has the fuel line connected to it. It has a 2 pin connector going to it. I can unplug that connector and the fuel pump continues to run. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ok just did a little more searching and what I thought might be the bank angle sensor turns out to be the injector set. I found the bank angle sensor up towards the front end. I also noticed looking at some schematics that this machine has a sensor set on the left side of the carb looking down at it. Any idea what this controls?

what your seeing on the throttle body ( what your calling a carb ), that is your TPS ( throttle position sensor ), this is not the bank angle sensor. the bank angle sensor ( most places ) are mounted near the back left side of the frame. unless you have a faulty fuel cut-off relay ?, then I have nothing here that tells me why your fuel pump is not shutting off ?.

you have a throttle body ( all fuel injection machines are throttle body ), what your seeing is the TPS=throttle position sensor.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm used to working on antique garden tractors where everything is a carb. I've tried 2 different relays with the same result. This one has the external fuel pump not the one made into the fuel tank. Is it possible that the pump shorted to on when I initially tried to start it before I realized the sub-harness had been chewed?

Man I've been over this thing from one end to the other checking the wiring with a flashlight. Nothing anywhere. The mouse was only in there a few days. I use it regularly this time of year. Nothing with it makes sense to me either.
