2012 HONDA FOURTRAX RANCHER 4X4 ES WITH POWER STEERING shut off while riding

We have a 2012 Honda Fourtrax Rancher 4X4 ES with power steering. A few months ago the power steering stopped working. Last evening while using the ATV to plow during a snowstorm, it just shut down. The headlights turn on and the dashboard is lit up but we're unable to start the ATV (there is a faint clicking noise when we try) and we can't change the gears (it's currently stuck in 1). Also, when we push the start button (there isn't a pull rope to start) it feels different. Any suggestions on what it might be before we run it to the dealer?

It won't start if it's in gear. There is a small shaft that sticks out the front of the motor that you can put a wrench on to shift the transmission manually. It is 8mm. Honda gives you a wrench to use, it is in the compartment on the underside of the seat, where the user manual goes. Get it shifted into neutral and see what it does.
