New to the forum and just picked up a new 2011 Recon. Wanted to know if there's any special maintenance issues/tips/etc to keep it running strong and thought this would be the best place to ask.
Also, what oil type and grade is recommended. I was thinking to use a synthetic engine oil and also a synthetic gear oil for the shaft drive.

Welcome to the forums. Honda GN4 oil is recommended. If you want to go with synthetic, Amsoil is a good choice.

I would have thought synthetic was recommended and the factory fill -

As far as I know, Honda recommends Honda GN4 for all their ATVs.

I didn't realize the 2011's were out. Are they the same as the 2009 since there was no 2010 version?

Got it almost right off the truck. I'm not sure how it compares to the 2009's.
