Bike was sitting up for a few years, cleaned tank, changed petcock, fuel pump assembly, fuel injector and spark plug.

Bike starts and idles but misses when you give it throttle, spark plug is black like its running rich.

It acts like a rev limiter is kicking in but at 1/4 throttle.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Is this bike new to you? Why was it sitting for a few years? Is it a mud bike? Is the battery good, 12.4 volts or more?

Bike is new to me but I got it from a good friend not a mud bike! His daughter rode it around 5 acre property. Battery is new and I tested it at 12.45 volts today. Bike set up because he had no use for it. It is in very good shape other then it misses.

First thing I would check is the timing and battery, to which you have confirmed the battery is good.

Are you able to work through the misfire and achieve higher rpm at all?
