2009 Foreman 500 FPE code 5 issue

Hello all,
New member here in need of some assistance. I recently bought a 09' Foreman 500 FPE knowing that it needed some work. I've got most everything lined out except I keep getting the code 5 which is the ECM motor driver circuit. I've ran through all the tests in the manual, they all were good which led me to believe the ecm may be bad. So I ended up buying one with my fingers crossed, needless to say no luck with that.

Here's what happens...when I turn the key on the "N" blinks three times, after that it blinks five times indefinitely.

When I try to clear the codes I can get the code 5 to clear, but after that the "N" blinks once with a long pause and continues to blink once indefinitely...the 4wd light also starts to blink once after the code 5 is cleared.

Sorry for such a long post I'm just pulling my hair out trying to find this problem, thanks in advance. This fourm has helped me out numerous times in the past, I know it'll help again.

Code 5

I dont have a clue Dude... Call a Honda Rep. , Not the local dealer but the 1-800 line. Go to the top and get the answer you need.
New finding today, I pulled the ES motor assembly off and turned the key on...no codes. So I tried the ES buttons and it spun the motor.

Put the ES motor assembly back on the atv, it shifted a couple times and the code 5 came back....pulled it off and no codes again.

Could the starter motor be shorting to the block, causing it to throw the codes? I have two angle sensors, but I'm unsure they are good or if they're even the problem.
Try cleaning out the old grease and replacing it with some new white lithium grease.

Where in Kentucky? I'm from the Owensboro area and born in Muhlenburg County.

Welcome to the forum.

Try this first, and if that doesn't work, report back.

If it were mine, I'd put a footshifter on there and run it like that.
