I have a 2008 Honda Foreman 500 and I had a snorkel put on it and it now runs like crap. I took it to the Honda dealer and had them re-jet it and it still runs bad. I have been told that the snorkel pipe is not big enough and it is not getting enough air for the motor. What size pipe should I have so that it will breathe like it should?

Welcome to the forums. I have never snorkeled one, so I can't help you, but someone else should be able to help with that. We have a few guys on here that have snorkels on their ATVs.

A 1.5 in. or a 2 in. will work. you might have to put a high flo air filter on like the UNI or K&N and then adjust your jets so it will run right.

They didn't jet it correctly. It doesn't matter if you have a straw for your intake, as long as you get the air/fuel ratio correct it will run.

that is right. Most use the same dia. as factory. But if you rejet it should run no matter what size pipe you use

I've never snorkeled one before, but I think I have to disagree with those statements. Yes the air/fuel mixture has to be correct, but if the intake is no bigger than a straw, then you wouldn't have enough air volume getting to the engine. The volume of fuel coming through the jets is going to be directly proportional to the amount of air flowing through the intake and through the carb. You might have a proper air/fuel mixture, but you're not going to have the volume to run the engine. Well it MIGHT run, but I doubt it would run very good. It takes a certain amount of air/fuel mixture to create a big enough explosion in the cylinder to push the piston down and through it's complete cycle.

Agree, the straw statement was an exagerration. But he should be fine with the size he used.

Yeah, I know the straw was an exaggeration. LOL. It probably wouldn't run at all with a straw sized intake. I don't know why I ran with that. I guess I just felt like typing. LOL.

you will need 1-1/2 pvc not flex hose the flex hose is only 1-1\2 on the outside not the inside. i had the same problem had to run the snorkel up in front of the gas tank
