Hey guys, just wondering what everyone's using to hold the clutch on their 400ex?

I've been looking online but can't find any obvious tool. I can probably spin it off with an impact gun, but was wanting a proper tool to hold it while torquing it back on.

Thanks

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a staked nut, or how do you stake the nut?

I'm no expert mechanic, so that's why I figured I'd pick up the tools and do it by the book.

Thanks for all the info and advice guys.

OK, so nothing special needed to remove other than an impact gun? Is a new nut needed or can it be reused?

Thanks
going by the book ?, they tell you to use a new nut, me ?, I never buy them !. I always just re-use the old nut. chances of the old nut lining back up to where the old stake in the nut to the indention ?, very slim !!. bottom line : re-use the old nut !.

word of caution !!!!. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHICH WAY THE NUT COMES OFF !!!!!!!!. SOME ARE LEFT HAND THREADS ?, OTHERS ARE RIGHT HAND THREADS !!!.

I've always used an impact too, until this past year... Had one that would just NOT come free. Was hitting it so hard with the impact it felt like I was going to be harming the gears. So I got the tool, was so tight still couldn't get it free with a breaker bar... So then used the impact in combination with the holding tool, freed up right away. Tool was so handy we've used it a couple times since then already. If just impact goes that's fastest and easiest, I agree.

When I changed my clutch on my 450 the tool helped out extremely well. I got mine from EBC. Personally I think it’s worth the money
