Had a 2007 rancher roll off a trailer last night at probably 20mph. It was in drive and turned off. After it came off the trailer it just stopped in the middle of the gravel road like it was parked there.

Today I changed the oil with rotella t6 synthetic.

After the oil change when I took off in auto mode it wouldn’t shift and would sputter in reverse. I turned it off and put it in esp and from sitting still I can push the up shift button and the display will show 2 but nothing is moving or clicking. After starting to drive the displays starts showing a flashing that is flashing fast 5 times.

Any thoughts?

I would start by downloading the factory service manual and see what the diagnostic code gives.

I agree, you need to download the service manual and start the process of diagnostic testing. Curious can you get it in neutral and roll the ATV and if so, do you hear anything internal to the engine/transmission making an unwanted noise? Likewise, when you get it in gear with the engine off and rock/move the ATV do you hear any unwanted noises in the transmission? I'm asking these questions because dropping a ATV at that speed instantly thus applying that impact to transmission could have snapped something internal, but hopefully not....

It will go into first and reverse and drive fine. Nothing sounds abnormal. With it set to auto it just stays in first gear and the gear shift position starts flashing.

With just key on engine off in electrical shift mode, if you try to shift to second gear the digital display will go to 2 but nothing happens in the transmission. I cannot even hear it trying to shift at all.

This may seem crazy, but electronic shift units are "finicky" when it come to a good/strong battery. I would ensure the battery is fully charged and delivering the right volts under a load test or better yet try a different battery from another unit known to operate perfectly. Point is, who knows how an impact could have altered the unit at this point and just trying to narrow down known issues with shifting ES models.

My 400FA went all wonky one time, and all it ended up being was ONE loose connector. Since this changed right after being tossed off the trailer, I'd start checking for loose connections. From what you're describing, the shift motor isn't changing the swash plate angle at all. But that can be caused by a bad shift motor, bad angle sensor, loose connector, or a bad ECM. Comparing your code to the codes listed in the service manual should point you in the right direction.
