Good morning, I have recently acquired a 2007 Rancher 420 EFI foot shift that I am having some issues with. Unit will crank and idle, but when you give it gas it starts kind of shuddering and spitting and sputtering and can see small amount of black smoke coming from tailpipe. Checked fuel pump, I am getting plenty of flow, not sure how much pressure though, checked spark plug( lots of carbon buildup from it smoking as previously stated) Changed fuel filter...Before I start throwing parts at it didn't know if anyone else has had a unit to do this. Had someone tell me to check sensor on throttle body, and I assume they meant the TPS sensor, but haven't had a chance to do that yet. Thanks for any help on this matter!!!

Sounds like too much fuel! Does it have the correct fuel injector nozzle?

Update. Found it was a stopped up( new mind you) fuel injector. Took it apart and blew air through it in reverse flow and bunch of stuff came out. Then flushed fuel system replaced injector and she purrs like a sewing machine now!!
