Hi folks,
I have taken the clutch cover off of my atv and found a clear wax like substance on the inside of the cover. Is this normal from atv oil? I have not worked on atv engines before, but many other engines and have not noticed this residue. I purchased this unit used so i do not know what previous owner used for oil. I am using mystik jt-4 synthetic atv oil since i have owned. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wish now i had taken picture. The coating was so clear you could not see it, except for where it was thick enough that it had a ripple effect like waves on water. It was most evident shaft level and lower on clutch cover and arm that releases shift clutch. I did not notice any on either clutch. It felt very slippery and took firm pressure with finger to wipe off. I am wondering if something was added to reduce shift clutch sticking, which unit had when i purchased, but only on cold start up.
