Hello and welcome to the forums. First clean the air box and the snorkel that runs up under the tank. replace the air filter. Clean the carb. really good removing all the jets and taking a wire from a wire brush gently clean the holes in the jets. Used compressed air to clean out all passages in the carb. body. make sure your tank hasen't got any rust or other stuff in it. check all your gas lines to make sure they are in good shape. pull the plug out and make sure it is ok. check the batt. to see that it is charged and your getting fire.

There is a post on here somewhere that has a link to most of the manuals but I think they are five bucks which is a good price. juat search for manual and it should come up.

Well it was an owner's manual instead of a service manual. Helmut do you know where he could download one?
No, I know where he can download a free owner's manual, but I don't know where to find a repair manual. Seems like they're hard to find for the Rancher 400AT. There's a link on here for a free Rancher 350 repair manual, but they're way different than than the 400AT, so that wouldn't do him any good.
