Hey guys I have a 2005 rancher 350 tm . It looks like to me that the rear bearing and seal is out on the left axle. I can see a silver piece of metal coming out of the axle housing. It has rubbed a small grove into the "plate" that the wheel bolts to. Would that cause the rear axle to pop every now and again? Im not mechanically inclined so please forgive me on terminology. Please help! Hunting season is fast approaching and i need to get this thing fixed! Lol.

Ya, a bad wheel bearing coming apart can certainly make some noise. The part that is getting grooved up by the bad bearing is probably the hub...? You may need to replace that too. Both sides can be going bad so its probably a good idea to take it apart and look before ordering parts for just one side... its better to buy everything for both sides and fix it right though.

You'll want to buy OEM parts only, unless you can be certain that the bearings, seals & parts you are buying are not useless china made garbage. You'll also need to take the grease seals off from the new OEM bearings you buy and pack some good grease in each of them. Nowadays they are shipped nearly empty....

You can get a copy of the FSM for your Rancher HERE.

Enjoy your work. Welcome to the forums!

Like i said it pops every. Ow and then and also a grinding feeling/sound is coming from the same area every now and then. When i turn sharp it pops in the back axles as well. I will take it apart and hopefully know more later this evening.
