change the the valve gasket and it won't start when it did start it was spitting and sputtering I don't know what I might have done wrong

Probably have timing wrong. You changed valve stem seals correct? If thats the case it cant be done without removing the cam and all it takes is to be off a few teeth on timing chain and it wont start and could potentially instantly bend valves.(Hope this isnt the case). Welcome to the forums!
