I searched the threads here and found some old stuff I didn't care to resurrect, so I figured I'd make a new post. I need to bypass the neutral safety switch on my 2004 350FE. Which wire do I look for, and do I just simply ground it to the frame to bypass it?

On FE models the neutral light switch is not a standalone switch. There is a single gear position switch that includes neutral, reverse and gears 1 thru 5 which the ECM and the display meter use to function.

So if you ground the neutral wire coming from that switch, the ECM shuts down the ES shift system and blinks the display continually. The bike will not shift at all with the neutral light wire grounded fulltime.

Your best option is a start in any gear mod. Read this thread through to the end:

You'll need to add one more tweak to that mod since you have an ES bike:

Have fun!

Sorry I'm so late responding back to this. My reasoning for this mod was because I converted it to footshift, put in a 30%GR, and did a big bore top end. I just grounded the red and green wire to the frame to bypass the switch and it works great.
