answer to all honda es shift problems

there is a sight that manufactures a hand and foot shifter for all es models and it bolts on with the special hex shape especially for an es models . they also build a shift module to get around the blinking codes and a no shift situation . their parts will fit the 250,350 , and 450. The hand shifter is 16 inches tall and fits under the bend of your knee, the foot shifter bolts on also , and there is no drilling or machine work of any kind necessary , just push it on and tighten the bolt , thats it .The shift module only has 6 wires and bypasses the ecu and all other related failure parts that came on your unit , you will use the original shift buttons on the left side and your shift motor , other than that , the aftermarket unit bypasses the troubled areas. these people back up the parts they sell, and all parts they sell all have a warranty or your money back and they manufacture everything right here in the u. s their address is docsatvservice.com you really should call these folks

Help! No more source for recon 250ES shifter?

I am a new member to the board and have a 2004 and have a TRX250TE with the thumb shifters.

Found out about the recall far too late, and Honda said "too bad" at their 800 help line. Go buy a angle sensor, we don't give them out free any more. $60-$85.

I would like to bypass all the problems and just install an after market foot shifter - reading this forum it seems the only source is doc's ATV service, but their phone is disconnected and the web site down.

Anyone know where I can get one?

thanks

If you really wanna put a foot shifter on it just buy a foot shifter for the year model you have and put it on... Also you will have to pull the shift motor assy. and remove the reduction gears then replace the motor to keep out dirt and water, and cut the floor boards on the left side for clearance. Not a hard mod to do really.

I am not sure about your model but i researched it for my 2001 rancher and everything mechanical looks the be the same between an es and manual shift with the exception of shift motor, reduction gears, sensors, and control unit. I will not say it is safe, but possible for mine. I just went ahead and bought an angle sensor though. If your going to do it then I suggest you research it and make sure nothing is different between the models mechanically. They may have changed some things over the years.

Honda Recon TE foot shifter

I really had hoped not to get that involved...before he went away, (hopefully in the euphemistic sense) Doc apparently sold a special shifter that hooked right on the TE emergency shift location with a special attachment method. Seemed like the answer - but it is no more, apparently.

Yeah, it was hex-shaped and fit over the end of the shaft and had a set screw that held it on.

You could change the shifter shaft to the TM shifter shaft. It's pretty easy to change the shifter shaft, but you may have to have the engine out of the frame to change it.

I wish I could figure out the box he sold to bypass the es system. Unfortunately I am not that great with electrical components.
I remember reading on another forum where someone did away with the ECU and angle sensor and just used relays and hooked up the up/down buttons to run the shift motor and he said it worked great.

I had thought about doing that myself but when I took the shift motor off and operated it with the switches it would spin too shift then spin back so I was not sure if I needed to put a relay with a neutral return in there or not... so I just bought a sensor, if it goes out again I will be looking into it further though.
