The back story is that as I was going to start the quad ,nothing happened at all. I checked all the wiring and nearly every wire was chewed through by some mice. Several hours after carefully connecting and taping all wires it starts and runs perfectly fine but will not go into any gears. The neutral and 1st gear light are both lit up and nothing has seemed to work. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks to all.

Someone maybe able to tell you exactly whats wrong with your wiring but that's not me. I'm suspicious that you'll find yet another circuit to repair. However, I have some valuable advice on preventative maintenance:

Messing with hacked up harnesses is a waste of time and may lead to fryed components. You'll need to replace those to insure function and reliability.
