I have a 2003 650 Rincon with some electrical problems. It has been running great since new with no problems and the other day while running it died. There is no power to anything. Checked fuses and all where fine, on the main fuse #1 I am not getting any voltage but I am getting voltage to main#2. I unplugged back between battery and fuse block and i am getting 12v. I unplugged between key and fuse block and i am getting 5v. Key switch seems to be working fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You should have a red wire running from the positive of the battery to one of the 30 amp main fuses and the other wire (red/yellow) should be running from the positive of the battery straight to the other 30 amp main fuse. According to the wiring diagram, there's nothing in between the battery and the main fuses, but a connector. I would check that connector for a bad/loose connection. Also, check for a bad connection where the wires come off the positive battery post.

BTW, you should have 12 volts on both the wires at the keyswitch.

Thanks Helmut. I have checked the voltage there and i do have 12 v. I placed a jumper from one connection to the other connection and measured 12v at red/yellow main #2 and when i did the same thing to the red main#1 i am getting 0 v. I went to the other connector between the fuse block and the key switch and unplugged and i get 5v not 12 v. I dont have a wiring diagram for it and I dont know if it is a short or could it possibly be the i believe it is a diode in the fuse block , i dont know how it plays into the power going to the key switch.

I would post the wiring diagram, but it will probably be too small to see anyway. But if you want, you can go to the link below and download a 650 Rincon service manual in PDF for free and it will have the wiring diagram in the back.

having electrical problems with my 2008 688 rincon no power to the spark plug local dealer has spent 4 hours doing resistance checks and has gotten absolutely nowhere with it. can you help me please?
Welcome to the forums. Testing all the ignition components would be the only thing I would know to do. Test the ignition coil, pulse generator, stator. If none of those are bad, it could be the CDI. Since that model is fuel injected, I'm sure there's other things that could cause the ATV not to fire, but I'm not too familiar with the fuel injected models. A good service manual should help with troubleshooting it.
